La Freneza Pinot Noir, Dominio de Freneza
Description
Ruby red in color. Elegant, subtle and floral on the nose, it exhibits wild berries, roses, pomegranate, spices and mineral notes, a wonderfully fresh and complex expression of Patagonian Pinot Noir.
Vinification Process: La Freneza translates as ‘the madman’ in Esperanto. The grapes for this wine come from 60% of the town of Mainque and 40% of San Patricio del Chañar. The harvest is done by hand in boxes of 20 kg. Fermentation takes place with 25% whole bunches, at a temperature of 25 to 28 degrees. Only very soft pisonages and remontages for polyphenol extraction, the maceration lasts 12 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place in used 80% and new 20% barrels, 100% French. The wine rests in the same barrels for 10 months before being bottled.

Producer Details
Dominio de Freneza’s ambition is to bring the vineyard to the glass – producing true expressions of terroir through traditional winemaking methods. The winery uses hand-picking, partial de-stemming, whole bunch fermentation and only the gentlest pisonage and remontage to produce light elegant Pinot Noir wines.
