Bramare Malbec Lujan de Cuyo, Vina Cobos
Description
100% Hand-harvested Malbec from Lujan de Cuyo, also known as the "premier zone" for wine growing in Mendoza. Its high elevation vineyards (3,500+ feet), low nutrient & well-drained soils, and semi-desert climate (think large diurnal shifts in temperature) create wines with stunning structure, fruit character, and complexity.
Fermented with selected and native yeasts in 8-17 ton closed-top stainless steel tanks. Native malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel, followed by 8 months in French & American oak (~ 20% new). The wine was bottled unfined & unfiltered. The wine's rich, dark purple colour confirms the aromas of luscious, ripe plum, black cherry, espresso, and cigar box that leap from the glass. The mid-palate is juicy, but full-bodied at the same time, with smooth tannins that carry the raspberry, red liquorice, and chocolate flavours through to a lengthy finish. Produced Organically

In 1989, Paul Hobbs visited Mendoza for the first time. Driving over the Andes from Chile with his longstanding friend Jorge Catena, brother of the famous Nicolas Catena, he fell in love with the place, the people, but also with the potential to make great wine.
