Scottish Spirit

The majority of all spirits produced in Scotland is Whisky, although there are also a number of successful gin and vodka distilleries too. It is thought the history of Whisky in Scotland dates back to the 15th Century, when Friar John Cor is recorded as being granted a license to distill the ‘water of life’, aka ‘Acqua Vitae’ in latin or ‘Uisge Beatha’ in gaelic. Over the centuries a broad range of styles and cultures sprang up all over the country, ranging from the smoky, peaty style of Islay to the more delicate and floral style of Speyside.
