A Grand Tour of... Bulgaria & Romania Date: Friday 13th March 2026 The frontiers of quality wine are stretching ever wider from the traditional heartlands of Western Europe, with wine lovers increasingly thirsty for trying something new and exciting. As we love to do here at South Downs Cellars, we want to showcase wines that have made up sit up and take notice, no matter where they have come from. We’ve really had our heads turned by the fantastic craftmanship of wines from Bulgaria and Romania, with bottles made with care and attention to detail, from varieties that have rarely made it onto these shores until recently. We’ve invited Georgi Panayotov, an expert in wines from these areas to present to you, explaining the background of the surge in interest of wines from these exciting winemaking lands, whilst tasting through a plethora of sumptuous samples of liquid!
