Description
A dark garnet dress. A floral and fresh nose, giving the fruit the chance to be announced. The palate, fresh at first, then unfolds unctuous way, letting the Grenache speak, then more stretched in the finish, on tight yet melted tannins. Very good aging potential.
The “Réserve” wine corresponds to the very Gigondassian interpretation of the blend, where all of our old vines and top Gigondas terroirs mingle. Terroirs of limestone marl for density, sand and pebbles for finesse. Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre/Cinsault. Average age 60 years. 18 months of aging, partly in barrels (228L, 400L, 500L, 600L), partly in large containers (Foudre & concrete tank).

Producer Details
Domaine des Bosquets has over six centuries of winemaking history, being home to the first recorded Gigondas plantings of 1376. Today, the domaine’s 26 hectares of vines, aged up to 75 years old, are planted at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Julien has identified three distinct soil types at different elevations within these vineyards: marl at 250 – 300 metres above sea level, sandy clay at 200 – 220 metres and blue clay at 170 metres. Each offers the potential for varying ripeness levels and fruit characteristics in the wines. All the vines are cordon trained for optimum exposure and ventilation of the grapes, with fruit subject to rigorous selection following hand harvest. Julien is in the process of converting his vineyards to organic and biodynamic viticulture.
