Producer Details
The history of what now is Bodegas Álvaro Domecq S.L. dates back to 1850, year in which is founded Pilar Aranda Winery, which for centuries became one of the highest quality producers in the Marco de Jerez. Pilar Aranda was the first woman winemaker in the Marco de Jerez and the first one to be elected Capataz de Honor of the Harvest Party. With the utmost respect for that tradition and the important place that the winery occupied, in 1999, Álvaro Domecq Romero, a well-known mounted bullfighter born in Jerez, and a great fan of the world of wines of his land, takes charge of the mythical Jerez winery. In 2007 Álvaro Domecq Winery took a new step and joined Avanteselecta, a company that produces wines in the main Spanish wine regions under a common philosophy whose fundamental pillars are the search for unique terroir and the defense of native varieties to create unique projects that make a difference in the areas where they are located. The identity of Bodegas Álvaro Domecq S.L. continues to be the commitment to quality and the commitment to the Jerez tradition, maintaining a way of working that for years has produced some of the most appreciated wines in international markets, especially the British market.
