Revolution Tannat, Vina Progreso
Description
This collection is called “overground” as these wines are the wines we produce more often. They have an intense color, flavor and structure, showing the character that our climate and soil imprint to each wine. Our goal is never to reproduce an international model, but to make the grapes express themselves as they ripen in our Progreso Region. We produce a very particular style of typical Uruguayan wine, with a very aromatic fruit that refreshes the palate with great strength and structure, plus round and mature tannins. Intense and complex flavors, resulting from the slow ripening season typical of the cool temperate climate of the southern region of the Uruguayan coast. Between parallels 30 and 35, resting on the Atlantic Ocean, Uruguay shares the same latitude with the best viticultural regions of the Southern Hemisphere

Producer Details
Viña Progreso takes its name from Gabriel’s local village, Progreso, and the project is aptly named as these are indeed progressive wines, made by a guy whose enthusiasm, energy and open-mindedness shine through in the wines themselves. Progreso is in the department of Canelones, the country’s premier wine region in the south of the country.
This is a gently undulating, low altitude environment where irrigation is rarely if ever necessary. These wines are a real eye-opener, offering a spectrum of styles from some quite unexpected grape varieties; the common theme being lovely concentration, open fruit, judicious use of oak, intelligent balance and impressive length.
