California Wine
More than 80% of all wine made in North America comes from vineyards in the US state of California. It was wine from a Californian AVA, the Napa Valley, that was the first new world wine region to challenge the idea that wines from the old world were superior to those from the new world. Today California is seen as one of the premier wine regions in the world and is particularly famous for producing world class Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and old vine Zinfandel.
