Hungarian Wine

Historically Hungary was known as one of the finest wine making areas of Europe, particularly the prestigious Tokaj wine region. This reputation was tarnished in the 20th Century as the communist regime replaced its fine wine making culture with bulk produced, cheap plonk. Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, Hungary has rebuilt its wine industry and produces some of the best value wines in Europe.
