Maule Valley Wine
Maule is one of the oldest wine making regions in Chile. Volcanic soils are common here and there are some very old vines that are capable of producing wonderful wines. Malbec, Carmenere and the Cabernet grapes all do well here but it is the old vine Carignan that are particularly highly prized. Producers are now also experimenting with Pinot Noir in the cooler parts of the valley.
