Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino, Caparzo
Description
The relatively small wine region of Brunello di Montalcino in Tuscany sits amongst the world's most prestigious with quality only getting and better over the last few decades. Caparzo is one of the original 13 Brunello wineries and, almost uniquely, has vineyards in all the best areas giving their Brunello a real expression of the region. This wine comes from the vineyards of Carpazo, La Caduta, Il Cassero, and San Piero Caselle and after fermentation has spent 3 years in large Slavonian and French oak barrels before several months in bottle before release. Ruby in colour with expressive aromas of wild berry fruit with floral hints, and earthy, minerally notes. The palate is dry, broad and firm with great structure and complexity, grippy, persistent tannins and a long length.

Producer Details
Established in 1970, Caparzo is one of Montalcino's historic wineries, and is amongst those that contributed to the fame of Brunello di Montalcino. Purchased by the current owner Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini in 1998 after a period of dilapidation, she was determined to grow, improve, and develop the estate back to its former glory. Caparzo is now enjoying a comeback as a top Brunello producer.
