French Wine
Historically, France is one of the great wine producing regions of the world. In the 1920s they created the modern Appellation system and the strict rules that govern them in order to protect the quality and provenance of their wines. Regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne are synonymous with fine wine and have set the standards that the rest of the world has strived to meet and in some cases exceed. Today, France does not have the same hold of the wine industry it once had but is still one of the classic wine producing countries and is filled with fantastic regions and wines to explore.
